Working with you towards better outcomes

Our holistic approach involves specialists and specialized programs that focus on specific needs of patients suffering from a multitude of debilitating medical episodes. Our rehab programs have been designed with the common theme of assessing individual needs of patients and developing specific goal-oriented outcomes.

Rehab Programs

Rehabilitation provided in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities can vary in cost, hours of therapy, physician coverage and length of stay.

At ReGen Rehab, we provide post-acute inpatient rehab, outpatient rehab, day rehab as well as home rehabilitation services – a one-stop centre with a progressive continuum of physical and emotional care.

This is at the core of our philosophy of ‘bringing you back’ from an injury or illness to help you regain as much physical and cognitive functions as possible – so you may continue to enjoy the things that matter.

For many stroke survivors, rehabilitation is one of the most important phases of recovery. The effect of the stroke may mean that you need to change, relearn or redefine how you live.

Rehabilitation does not reverse the effects of a stroke. The goal of rehabilitation is to build your strength, capability and confidence so you can continue your daily activities and return to independent living.
What you do in a stroke rehabilitation program depends on what you need to become independent. Among the areas you may need to work on include:
  • Self-care skills (feeding, bathing and dressing)
  • Mobility skills (transfers, wheelchair mobility, walking with/without aids)
  • Communication skills (language and speech)
  • Cognitive skills (memory and thinking)
  • Social skills

No two traumatic brain injuries are similar and neither are the challenges faced by the patient and family members. Studies suggest that where a person seeks treatment makes all the difference in their recovery.
At ReGen Rehab, our patients benefit from a highly specialized program – involving rehabilitation physicians, neuropsychiatrists and psychologists, therapists and rehabilitation nurses – tailored to the physical / functional / cognitive impairments, and emotional or behavioral impairments unique to each patient.

Our goal-directed approach helps patients to:
  • Maximize brain arousal and responsiveness
  • Develop new cognitive and behavioral strategies to compensate for any deficits
  • Improve physical function and mobility, as well as skills needed to perform daily activities
As part of our brain injury program at ReGen, we offer a Disorders of Consciousness (DOC) program for individuals in a vegetative or minimally conscious state. The DOC program combines medical care, pharmacological management and therapy interventions to maximize each person’s potential.

A spinal injury could hold you back for life, unless treated with specialized care. At ReGen, we serve patients with different severity of spinal cord injury.
Our rehabilitation treatment focuses on aggressively working with patients medically, physically and psychologically to:
  • Maximize neurological recovery and functional abilities
  • Focus on the patient’s capabilities with compensatory strategies and devices to lessen activity limitations
  • Encourage full participation in life roles and situations
  • Prepare the individual and family to make the transition to the next stage of the rehabilitative process

Following severe brain injury, many patients progress through stages of coma as they emerge into a state of awareness. This may take weeks, months or even years and hence, it can be emotionally stressful for family and loved ones.

The Post-Coma Rehab Programme at ReGen Rehab is the first of its kind in Malaysia. It lays out a clear pathway of care from early post-acute rehab for patients and provides professional support for families, both are equally important.

Rehabilitation can start as soon as the patient’s condition has stabilized – this is called “acute rehabilitation” and can take place even in the ICU or during coma. When the patient is ready to be discharged from the hospital, post-acute rehabilitation takes over for the rest of recovery journey.

Our programme is anchored by esteemed clinical advisors:

  • Dr Caterina Pistarini, Neurologist and Rehabilitation Medicine Specialist, Special Clinical Advisor
  • Dr Lydia Abdul Latif, Professor, Clinical Consultant for Rehabilitation Medicine

Cardiac health is as much about treatment, as it is about taking charge of the choices, lifestyles and habits that affect your heart.
ReGen offers coordinated rehabilitation, nursing and therapy services for patients recovering from heart surgery or a cardiac event, as well as those suffering from debilitating pulmonary conditions.
While undergoing cardiopulmonary recovery, patients are medically managed by a team of physicians, nurses and therapists who carefully monitor and treat to rebuild cardiopulmonary endurance, strength, skills and function. Individualized treatment plans serve to restore and maximize the health and physical mobility of each patient.
The program also offers patients and their families proper education and training in the post-operative care of surgical incisions to:
  • Prevent secondary infections
  • Address ways to manage pain, diet and nutrition, stress, exercise and other critical factors that affect patient recovery
